Consider Me the Lady of the Flies

It has been 5 months since we moved to Toronto. I was expecting, and got, new experiences. For example, I got to run in true winter weather, snow and all.

I discovered I enjoy running in the snow.

As winter gradually immediately turned to spring, a new item in the air appeared. One that I did not expect:

I don't remember this fly, even though I grew up just a few hours away from here.

Naturally, I decided to learn a bit about this creature, which I will now share with you:

Here are some of its favourite hangout locations:

Balconies

Windows

But the midge fly's favourite activity is, hands down, a swarm.

*What you (also) may not know about midge flies is that they are curious beings.

Very. Curious.

Curious and enthusiastic.

Ridiculously friendly, curious, and enthusiastic.

So picture that, times 100, about 6 times during a 90 minute run.

Those are not freckles, and I did not get fancy eyelash extensions. I fished at least 5 flies out of my eyes yesterday during my run. Bleh.

All I can say is that I hope the midge fly mating season is brief.

*I have no facts to back me up on this claim. Or any other in this post, for that matter. Feel free to do what you like with this information, but if you use these "truths" and get pushback, you may wish to simply call them:

2017: A Year in Review (because that's what bloggers do)

Oh hey there.

It's the end of the year, the week between Christmas and New Year's. The one with a thousand memes about how disorienting this time is. Something like this:

To be fair, I have turned into one of those people. I have melted into my couch.

I have officially turned into a sloth.

This is also the time when bloggers do the ol' year in review, so I decided to do one too.

Well, first, I moved into a new place.

Technically that was last December but it was "a year ago."

I was an ambassador for Coeur Sports!

I love the company and all they stand for. Unfortunately I was not much of an ambassador, and the reason has to do with the next point.

Let's talk about all the races I did this year.

Aaaaalllll the MANY races I ran this year.

Ok yeah. It was just one. But it was a big one!

And even though it really kinda sucked for the last 20 miles, I got to run it with my favourite runner!

After that I was done with most exercise for awhile and am just now starting to get in some very slow, very short runs as well as build up my core (this time I'm really going to stick with it).

I've also been a bit busy once again with this:

Because:

While I am actually very excited, we managed to choose a crazy time to go:

I've had to make some wardrobe adjustments.

I have no plans yet for 2018, but I'm looking forward to new adventures "in the six"!

Questions
What are you planning for next year?

Do you live in/have favourite things to do in Toronto?

Do you have a year end review? If so, please share it in the comments; I'd love to read it!
